$500,000 Lemelson-MIT Prize
The Lemelson-MIT Prize is awarded to an outstanding mid-career inventor, who has developed a patented product or process of significant value to society, which has been adopted for practical use, or has a high probability of being adopted. By recognizing and funding younger, mid-career inventors, the prize is designed to spur inventive careers and provide role models for future generations of inventors.

$100,000 Lemelson-MIT Award for Sustainability
The Lemelson-MIT Award for Sustainability recognizes and supports inventors or innovators whose work enhances economic opportunities and community well-being in developing and/or developed countries, while protecting and restoring the natural environment. Issues of sustainability include quality of air, water or soil; or pertain to health, energy, agriculture, shelter, biodiversity, or ecosystem management.

The deadline for nominations for both Awards is Tuesday, October 6th, 2009.
