Technology Transfer Administrator

The Schepens Eye Research Institute, a Harvard Medical School affiliate, has a current opening for a Technology Transfer Administrator. Primary responsibilities include: docketing; processing invention disclosures; preparation, maintenance, and filing of documents going to outside patent counsel; tracking U.S. maintenance fees and foreign annuities; tracking and processing invoices from outside legal counsel; and tracking licensing revenue. Duties will also include generating correspondence, reports, scheduling and calendar upkeep for the department, and performing certain general office duties for the Office of Technology Transfer.

Case Manager II

The Case Manager II is responsible for: A) working with Investigators, outside counsel and industry to identify and protect the intellectual property arising from the hospital’s research activities; B) drafting and negotiating agreements pertaining to research, licensing and other aspects of investigator/industry interactions; and C) handling a full range of technology transfer responsibilities. The Case Manager II is expected to work independently, consulting with more senior colleagues only as required.

Contracts Associate I

The Contracts Associate I (“CA-I”) drafts and negotiates research and licensing agreements in service of RVL’s mission to translate Partners’ science to the patient bedside. In addition to drafting and negotiating, the CA-I is responsible for managing transactions, including information, correspondence and contracts. Typical services include: drafting with minimal supervision, taking the lead on negotiating, and revising legal agreements in support of research and licensing; facilitating and monitoring project and transaction workflow; interfacing with investigators and companies. As proficiency grows, the ability to work with increasingly complex agreements is expected. The CA-I reports to the Associate Director managing the Contracts Group in CSRL.

Technology Transfer Specialist

The Technology Transfer Specialist will:  1) assist in initiating, negotiating, and executing Material Transfer Agreements, Joint Invention Agreements and Confidentiality Agreements; 2) provide marketing materials, and conduct market research to support marketing efforts of the senior staff (including drafting of non-confidential marketing briefs); 3) maintain the Technology Ventures Office website, including the addition of new technology descriptions and removal of non-relevant ones; and 4) design and execute, along with the senior staff, innovative methods for increasing licensing and collaborative research opportunities.

    Senior Business Development Manager, Research Ventures and Licensing

    The Research Ventures and Licensing (RVL) department at Partners HealthCare (PHS) is responsible for supporting innovation and intellectual property protection at PHS and ensuring the broad translation of PHS science and technology to the broader healthcare community and patient bedside. Resources and support for innovation at PHS have largely been focused on the biomedical research enterprises within PHS’ member hospitals. The PHS community and leadership also recognize the mission critical innovations that occur outside the biomedical research enterprises and within PHS Information Systems (IS). PHS IS is one of the nation’s largest and most highly regarded healthcare IS groups, with a staff of ~1,200 professionals that supports a research and clinical enterprise system that includes two academic medical centers, community hospitals, specialty hospitals, community health centers, a physician network, home health and long-term care services, and other health-related entities.

    PHS IS, supported by RVL, has recently developed the PHS IS IP-Innovation Program to foster and support PHS IS innovation. The mission of this program is to promote an innovative culture throughout the broad PHS IS community (including PHS’s specific hospital IS groups); capture, evaluate, protect, and manage the resultant innovations; and facilitate the commercialization of these innovations. The Senior Business Development Manager is a newly created position that will lead and manage the PHS IS IP-Innovation Program and to provide business development support to the entire PHS IS enterprise.
