The 2nd Massachusetts Life Sciences Innovation Day is the biggest day for life sciences startups and innovation in the State of Massachusetts. Last year this house-full, high-energy, hands-on event brought together legendary speakers and experts to mingle with innovators, post-docs, professors, entrepreneurs, innovators, and venture capitalists. It is the flagship event of life sciences in Massachusetts, jointly and actively put together by all the major organizations that are involved in starting the life sciences startup ecosystem in the Commonwealth.
2009 is the 150th anniversary of the publication of Charles Darwin’s On the Origin of Species. As we hope to show you in this program Darwin’s theory of evolution may be applied to business and technology development. Alnylam, Genzyme, BiogenIdec, Boston Scientific, Sirtris and Confluent are all companies that have evolved to become major players in the Massachusetts life sciences industry. They all started as basic science theories - in a nurturing environment and with the work of many scientists, engineers and business executives these ideas became new products that have changed global healthcare. At this event we’ll talk about how to survive and thrive in both academic and industry research and how to see your ideas be transformed into new products. We’ll look at how to Raise money… Change cultures… Chase the best ideas, as well as get a window on the future of what’s new.

- Learn from the industry’s top investors at the panel “Have the Rules of Getting Investment Changed?”
- Network with the Who’s Who of Massachusetts life sciences. Every major stakeholder in the Commonwealth in life sciences is involved in jointly organizing this event - including the major universities, research centers and hospitals
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Everyone involved in the life sciences innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem of MA should attend. This event is designed to inspire researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs, post-docs and graduate students throughout the Commonwealth to take their ideas to commercialization faster - whether it is through management, funding or partnerships. It is an opportunity to meet serial entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, angel investors as well as many top leaders who have created companies or commercialized technologies coming out of laboratories and ideas. The day’s event will bring together the Commonwealth’s leading researchers and innovators, along with top-tier management of biotech, pharma and medtech companies as well as the key life sciences funding sources including angels, foundations, venture capitalists, grant experts, Federal Government and philanthropists.

- $225 Non-members
- $50 Students and post-docs (ID’s will be required at the event)
