Short description:

The paradox of patents in both promoting the development of new medicines and vaccines for global health and potentially being used to maintain prices which hinder accessibility to the poor (in developing countries and also in the developed world) is a difficult problem for technology transfer professionals. A number of organizations, including the Center for Management of IP for Health Research and Development (MIHR) and the Technology Managers for Global Health special interest group of AUTM have been raising awareness of these issues and beginning to develop tools for dealing with it.

The seminar will describe some of these efforts (in brief) and hope to develop approaches to the problem from the attendees.
